I recenly obtained a copy of Leopold McLaglan's 1922 book entitled 'Police Jui Jitsu'. I believe that this formed the basis, at least in part, for the (London) Metropolitan Police's very practical Self-defence and Arresting techniques, which were taught until 1981.
