Seigō ryū Yawara (制剛流和) was founded by Isogai Jirōemon, who was a student of Ryōi Shintō-ryū (良移心当流) founder - Fukuno Shichirouemon Masakatsu (福野七郎右衛門正勝).

As a student of Fukuno, Isogai also trained in Chinese Kenpō (拳法 – fist striking method) and Torite-no-jutsu (捕手の術 hard taking) with Chin Genpin (陳元贇).

Koryū teacher and author - Todd Schweinhart has just published an English version of the:

'Seigō ryū Nawa Maki Densho: Binding Techniques Seigō ryū'
(2020)

which is described on Amazon, as follows:

"The Seigo Ryu binding and striking techniques fully translated. This book contains original images from two densho and translation. The first is on the binding arts (Hojo) and the additional section is on the Striking arts (kyusho) of the school. Both contain detailed diagrams of ties and weak point charts."
