Abstract
JIKISHlN-RYU JUDO - ORIGIN OF THE NAME, TECHNIQUES AND PHILOSOPHY
- a leading study on the genealogy of Jikishin-ryū jūjutsu was announced in 1990. The role of the Jikishin-ryū yawara-jo was used in that study as a basis for arranging and presenting a genealogy of ikishin-ryū jūjutsu. However, the reading about and understanding of the role of the Jikishin-ryū yawara-jo were insufficient in that study, thus the genealogy of Jikishin-ryū jūjutsu as presented in that work was not arranged well enough
In this study, the genealogy of Jikishin-ryū is re-examined through the Jikishin-ryū yawara-jo, and an investigation is made as to whether MitsuhideTERADA was the originator of Jikishin-ryū jūjutsu.
The findings of the research indicate that Mitsuhide TERADA was not the founder of Jikishin-ryū jūjutsu.

The picture (above) is from the book:
'Nihon no Budō (日本の武道)J ūjutsu jūnōseigō no michi (柔術 柔能制剛の道)'(Showa 58) 1983 (publ. Kodansha).
It show Takashi Matsushita 松下敬 (Jikishin-ryū 16th Sōke) demonstrating with Ishibashi Isao
Contrary to the above (Nakajima 2010), it states that Jikishin-ryū was founded by Terada Kanemon in approximately 1673 and taught in Matsue han.
The article also mentions the use of atemi-waza in actual combat while wearing armour.
