I am honoured and humbled to have been awarded the United States Ju-jitsu Federation’s highest level of instructor and examiner certification. I am also very grateful to USJJF President - Bruce Bethers for kindly granting me this distinction.

This is a testament to the high level of Ryōi Shintō-ryū Jūjutsu (良移心当流 柔術) and to the dedication and kindness of my own teacher - James Shortt Sensei.

As a perpetual student, I personally feel that the term ‘Grand Master’ is overly grandiose (although in Japanese, it would translate to Dai Shihan 大師範), but nonetheless, it is encouraging to receive external recognition as a senior coach and assessor, both for myself and on behalf of the Ryōi Shintōkai (良移心当会) organisation.
