Kanō Jigorō (嘉納 治五郎), who was the founder of Kōdōkan Jūdō (講道館 柔道) had previously trained in Tenjin Shin'yō-ryū Jūjutsu(天神真楊流柔術) and Kitō-ryū Jūjutsu (起倒流柔術), which was a derivative of Ryōi Shintō-ryū Jūjutsu (良移心当流柔術).
The 'Shin-tō wa mokuroku jo' (神当和目録序) document from the Ryōi Shintō-ryū (良移心当流) Nagahama (長浜) line, describes this technique as Ō-goshi (大腰 - big waist / hip)
