Shinohara Yasunoshin was a historical figure. He was a teacher of Ryōi Shintō-ryū Jūjutsu, and both a member of and the Jūjutsu instructor to the infamous Shinsengumi (late Edo period Shogunate militia).
The below is a fictional (and possibly unflasttering) depiction of him, but interesting for it's mention of Ryōi Shintō-ryū Jūjutsu:
From the Manga (comic book) series ‘Shinsengumi Keppuroku’ Episode 83 (新選組血風録 第83話)
Entitled:
‘Shinohara took an interest in 'Okei', who was working as a waitress at a teahouse in Gion. “You will serve me in my resting place”’
(祇園の茶屋でお運びをしていた”おけい” を篠原が見初めた。「おれの休息所で奉公せい」)
Part of the caption reads:
“Shinohara is a master of Ryōi Shintō-ryū Jūjutsu” (篠原は 良移心頭流の柔術の名手)
