Against a downward, diagonal Wakizashi (脇差) / Kodachi (小太刀) cut (technique 4.)

Published on 11 April 2023 by Peter King

Uke advances with a downward, diagonal Wakizashi (脇差) / Kodachi (小太刀) cut (or strike with a stick). Tori turns and drops to the ground, outside of the arc of the weapon and simultaneously raises his leg to kick at Uke’s floating ribs, lower abdomen, or groin.

Immediately after this Tori hooks his kicking leg behind Uke's advancing leg and his other leg hooks the inside of Uke’s lower shin / ankle.

Tori then continues this motion to fold Uke’s leg forward and then locks Uke’s ankle (in a figure 4) against his own hip and immobilises Uke face down by also taking his arms.

Our next seminar is this coming Saturday, 15h April 2023 Date: Saturday, 15th April 2023
