Uke takes a hold on both wrists. Tori counters by stepping into uke, while at the same time raising his arms, palms towards the ground. Suddenly and with force, pull the arms together so that the uke’s wrists strike one another painfully. Seize his wrists and step to one side. Maintaining a strong grip on the wrists, tori then continues by transferring the trapped wrists to the hand on the side that he is standing (i.e. if standing on your right, uke's left wrist is held with your right hand).
Tori pivots placing him in a position to strike your uke's spine, floating ribs, or back with your elbow (Hiji-uchi).
