Defence against a punch, having moved to the outside.

Published on 17 March 2020 by Peter King

From 'Self-Defence: The Essential Handbook" by James Shortt (1984).

Based on the principles and techniques of Ryōi Shintō-ryū Jūjutsu (良移心当流 柔術).

1) A right major move: having moved to your left, bring your right hand
up to grip your attacker between the top of his elbow and his
shoulder. (Preferably, your left hand should be protecting your face)

2) The end of the right major move, holding his arm close in to your
body, side-step until you are almost behind your attacker - you may
then push him away with your left hand.

3) Striking back with a punch to his kidneys (note picture shows
floating ribs)

4) Striking behind his ear with the heel of your hand.
