Further illustrations from my copy of the 'Kito Yushin Jujutsu Hiden Kai' (起倒雄心 柔術秘傳解 - An Explanation of the Secret Jujutsu Techniques of the Kito Yushin School) document.

As one would expect, the connections between Ryōi Shintō-ryū Jūjutsu (良移心当流 柔術) and Kitō-ryū Jūjutsu (起倒流柔術) are evident within this document.

Eric Shahan has translated another copy of this document and included it in his excellent book 'A Collection of Curious Jujutsu Manuals: Volume II'. He provides the following description of these illustrations as follows:

"#8 In this situation the opponent cuts at you with a Hakujin, a white (bared) blade. As he cuts step diagonally to the left, bringing your body in close to the opponent, but out of the line of his cut. Use your left arm to stop the opponent’s downward cut. This is shown in illustration one. As soon as you stop the cut, step in with your right foot and use your right arm to wrap around the outside of the opponent’s right arm. At the same time, slide your right foot against the outside of his right foot. This is shown in illustration two. Using your right leg and right arm in unison pull the opponent down on his left side. This should cause him to drop his sword."
