Our recent Ryōi Shintō-ryū Jūjutsu seminar on 11th June 2023, was a success. More to follow, but in the meantime here is one of the waza from our last seminar:

Tori is in shizen no kamae (自然の構),

Uke advances with sword and cuts laterally from left to right at tori’s lead foot.

Tori leaps up over the descending cut by bringing his knees and feet up close into his body.

As tori lands (to the opponent’s left side), he places the outer edge of his wrist against the lower part of uke’s forearm and encircles uke’s neck with his other arm.

Linking hands, tori pulls uke close to his side trapping uke’s arm, neck and head.

Tori grips the centre section of the sword handle and pulls it away from uke’s grasp.
